Writing Update + More

I know I have been fairly quiet here lately, but there are a few reasons for that: I have decided that I'm going to post writing updates once a week, on Sundays, since I don't think anyone wants or needs a daily update on something like that. This week was also very stressful and busy, so I did not work as much on Omnia as I had wanted to, but I still managed to do some stuff!

My current writing update is at 51 pages, which means I'm about halfway through writing Omnia's introductory plotline. (This is just the introduction to the main story, in case anyone might be confused about how I phrased that.)  The other things I've done this week are:

  • Edited the window skin
  • Completely changed the menu
  • Finalized the protagonist and party members' appearances
  • Finished two cutscenes
  • Updated the screenshots here on my Itch.io page

As always, I do keep the credits for everything I use and edit in a text document in my game's folder.  Once the demo is finished, they will all be included in the in-game credits at the end of the demo as well. (The credit list will, naturally, expand as I keep working on Omnia ^.^

After I finish writing the main introductory storyline, I need to:

  • Make the two small maps I have not made yet, but will need.
  • Make the remaining three cutscenes for the intro
  • Add the six planned side quests
  • Write the dialogue for all the random NPCs (This will take a while, since each one will have at least four different things to say at any given time. Some will have completely different dialogue after specific things happen in-game.)

Once all of the above has been written, I will need to:

  • Finish editing the iconset
  • Do the database work (Items, skills/spells, weapons, armor, enemies, stats, attacks, etc)
  • Balance everything
  • Purchase and add music and sound effects
  • Do an initial playtest and work on bug fixes and passability issues
